Obituary of William Otto Reichwage

William Otto Reichwage born June 30, 1951 of Ft Wayne passed away at 10:07 PM On February 21, 2022 at Parkview Hospital. He was the son of Otto Reichwage and Dorothy Reichwage. William attended Emmaus Lutheran school and church. He later became an alumni of Elmhurst high school.He attended IPFW Ft Wayne campus and received his bachelors degree in general science. After graduation he worked in several commercial labs in the Fort Wayne vicinity. He became self taught in wood working and carpentry and worked as a finish carpenter for Masterpiece homes of Ft. Wayne for 40 years. During this time he was able to work on many complex, large scale homes in southwest Allen County.  After retiring, he expressed pride in his work remarking he was never asked to make any significant revisions.
Since he was young Bill and his brother, Dr. David Reichwage, have been blessed by an incredible relationship.  The brothers sincerely respected and cared for each other. The photos taken of them in youth reveal smiling faces and affectionate embraces.
Bill is survived by his brother Dr. David Reichwage and wife Greta. His nephew, Dr. Brett Reichwage and his wife Jennifer reside in Florida with their three children Ella, Audrey and Lauren.
Bill loved the outdoors and spent many hours walking and running on the IPFW campus. He was a naturalist and collected plant and insect samples in the 600 acres of woods at IPFW and made displays in his apartment showing the various plants andBill the seasons in which they occurred. He also enjoyed annual fishing trips to Ontario, Canada.
Bill donated his body to the Indiana University Schools of Medicine and Dentistry. His wish was to have students learn anatomy first hand.
His ashes will be returned to Ft. Wayne for burial at Lindenwood cemetery.
Bills philosophy of life was kindness and respect for all people. He believed there is never a problem or situation that can’t be worked out by reason or logic. Bill will be dearly missed.
 WILLIAM OTTO REICHWAGE: A Celebration of Life Memorial service is 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Emmaus Lutheran Church and School, 8626 Covington Road, Fort Wayne.
